Ioannes Marcus Marci Session

Preceding the conference banquet, the ceremonial 9th Ioannes Marcus Marci Session will take place. The Ioannes Marcus Marci Lecturer 2026 will be Professor Reinhard Genzel, Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, Munich. His career is deeply rooted in pioneering infrared spectroscopy and high-resolution imaging. Prof. Genzel’s expertise lies in developing advanced, ground-based astronomical instruments to study the infrared emission from galactic centers. Following his discovery of a supermassive compact object at the center of our galaxy, together with Roger Penrose and Andrea Ghez, he was named to be the Nobel Laureat in Physics 2020.

IMMS Venue & Access

The 9th Ioannes Marcus Marci Session will take place at the Prague City Hall (Mariánské nám. 2) on Wednesday, September 2, in the afternoon. The auditorium will open at 16:30, and the session will begin at 16:45.

Participants should enter the Prague City Hall through the main entrance from Mariánské náměstí (Mariánské Square) and follow the event signage to the Auditorium. Conference staff will be available to assist participants.

The best way you can get from the University Campus to the Prague City Hall is by metro (Line A) from the station Dejvická to the station Staroměstská (exit E3, see Map). From there, the Prague City Hall is within a 5-minute walking distance (250 m / 330 steps).
